Obama 9 points ahead of McCain in Michigan

By Alexa Stanard | 06.24.08 | 6:08 pm

Sen. Barack Obama leads Sen. John McCain by nine points in Michigan, according to a poll released today.

Public Policy Polling, a North Carolina-based firm, announced Obama led McCain 48-39 in a survey of 573 likely voters taken June 21 and June 22. However, its margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points puts the two candidates potentially much closer in this crucial electoral state.

Last week PPP showed Obama leading McCain by 11 points in Ohio.

“Every new poll PPP [takes] in a swing state provides more evidence that talk of long-term Democratic disunity because of the drawn out contest between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton was overblown,” said PPP President Dean Debnam in a press release. “Those voters are almost all now supporting Obama.”
