As part of the federal stimulus legislation approved earlier this year, six health centers in northern Michigan will receive a combined $1.3 million, according to U.S. Rep. Bart Stupak.  

The Menominee Democrat said that the following health centers in the 1st Congressional District would receive stimulus funds, according to the Sault Ste. Marie Evening News:

  • Alcona Citizens for Health, Inc. (Lincoln): $397,168
  • Thunder Bay Community Health Services (Hillman): $237,688
  • East Jordan Family Health Center (East Jordan): $189,952
  • Upper Peninsula Association of Rural Health Services (Marquette): $180,800
  • Sterling Area Health Center (Sterling): $169,965
  • Bay Mills Indian Community (Brimley): $125,545

    • The funds, released March 27, will provide 29 federally qualified health center grantees in Michigan a total of $8.6 million.
