Candidate’s wife to host discussion about women workers in Michigan.
Michelle Obama is scheduled to host a town-hall-style meeting in Pontiac on Wednesday, the Obama campaign announced. She will use the opportunity to discuss the impact of the economy on women and families in Michigan, and she likely will address how her husband, presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama, will try to improve the economy if elected president.
The public event with Michelle Obama will be held at The Crofoot, 1 S. Saginaw, Pontiac. Tickets for the event will be available starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the same location.
Michelle Obama has been somewhat controversial, with opponents taking digs at her for a comment she made about feeling proud of America for the first time in her adult life following one of her husband’s primary wins. Pundits also have focused on her bumping fists with her husband at various events. Campaign staff have attempted to mellow her image by booking her on “The View,” where she talked about the incident and bumped fists with the women hosts of the ABC talk show.
