  • Eartha Jane Melzer has won an honorable mention from the National Press Club for her investigative reporting on private disaster-response firm Sovereign Deed in Pellston, Mich., submitted for their Hume political journalism award.   • Todd Spencer has been named news editor for Michigan Messenger.  Todd came to us from online magazine Common Ground where he had been the editor-in-chief.  Todd’s also reported for NPR programs “On The Media,” “Living on Earth,” “Marketplace” and “The California Report” and written for Salon.com and Rollingstone.com, as well as The Detroit News, Traverse Magazine and the Ann Arbor Observer. After contributing to our team as a Fellow for the last two months, Todd will migrate to his new role in July.  Congrats, Todd!
