Saab, the Swedish auto company owned by General Motors, has filed for bankruptcy in a Swedish court. The move is the start of a reorganization process that will likely end with the company spinning off from GM into a separate entity, as GM has been planning for several months. The Swedish court granted the company protection from creditors while it works out the reorganization plan.
