The Michigan Citizen’s Diane Bukowski reports that interim Mayor Kenneth Cockrel Jr. has accepted big campaign contributions from city contractors.
The article lists contributions from contractors including $7,000 from Waste Management’s WMI PAC of Michigan; $10,200 in from Detroit Water and Sewage Department contractor James Nicholson of PVS Chemicals; 3,400 from James D’Agostini of D’Agostini Construction; 1,500 from Richard DeMaria of Demaria Building Company; 1,00 from Michael Rosett of Fairway Construction; and 1,000 form Cullen DuBose of Painia Development.
Cockrel’s spokesperson Dan Cherrin told Michigan Citizen that Cockrel doesn’t support certain contractors just because they made donations. He noted that Cockrel has voted against some contractors that donated to his campaign in the past.
The special election primary for mayor of Detroit is next Tuesday, Feb. 24.
