Multiple news outlets report an additional five new cases of salmonella in Michigan, bringing the total number of cases in state to 25. The cases all appear to be related to contaminated peanut butter produced by Peanut Corporation of America.
Kellogg Company of Battle Creek, Mich. (NYSE:K) recalled cracker products containing peanut butter under its Keebler and Austin labels out of concern for potential salmonella contamination. No cases of salmonella have yet been linked to the crackers; the move was purely precautionary on Kellogg’s part.
Wonder what the Keebler elves will do to dispose of all the crackers if it turns out the crackers are contaminated…
