This is part of a shift in strategy, towards new forms [...]

McCain’s Michigan headquarters rented from law firm specializing in mortgage foreclosures

By Todd A. Heywood | 07.15.08 | 4:47 pm

Mitt Romney’s keynote address there Monday was ribbon-cutting for Farmington Hills headquarters housed in building owned by “collection agency”

The new Great Lakes Campaign Headquarters for Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain’s presidential bid is located in a Farmington Hills building owned by Trott & Trott, a law firm that specializes in mortgage foreclosures, documents show. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, considered a possible running mate for McCain, delivered a keynote address that served as a ribbon-cutting there Monday on McCain’s behalf.

This potentially embarrassing news comes at a time when many Michigan homeowners are suffering. In January Detroit led the country with nearly 5 percent of its homes entering some phase of foreclosure. This was 4.8 times the national foreclosure average of just over 1 percent. In addition, Foreclosure.com shows thousands of properties in foreclosure in Oakland County, where Farmington Hills is located.

When Michigan Liberal’s Eric Barren reported the new office, the Trott Financial Center, is located at 31440 Northwestern Highway, Suite 100, Farmington Hills; his post identified the owner as Trott & Trott. In fact the property is owned, according to Famington Hills city property records online, by NW13, L.L.C. The agent for contact on this company is Paul Stodulski. Crain’s Detroit Business reports Trott & Trott is a majority owner of the building, along with Stodulski.

The property is managed by Redico, also located in the Trott Financial Center.

Continued – Trott & Trott, according to its Web site, provides services for the real estate financing industry:

The law firm of Trott & Trott, P.C. provides legal representation in residential mortgage foreclosures, bankruptcy and related matters, including fire losses, drug forfeiture actions, tax sale issues, condemnation proceedings, land contract forfeitures, actions to quiet title, title claims and resolution, and other litigation involving real property in the state of Michigan.

Trott & Trott enjoys strong relationships with governmental agencies, elected officials, and business and community leaders. Our reputation for fairness, coupled with innovation and problem-solving skills, has led to our attorneys serving on industry and related advisory panels and commissions. We have also served in high level positions in professional associations and continuing education programs.

Crain’s Detroit Business reported the property acquisition by Trott & Trott at 31440 Northwestern Hwy. as follows:

Last month, Trott & Trott purchased the former headquarters with partner Redico L.L.C. Trott & Trott is the majority owner.

Trade publication DSNews.com, which describes itself as “the default mortgage service industry’s monthly media voice in print,” writes about Trott & Trott’s purchase of the building here.

One of McCain’s economic advisers, former Sen. Phil Gramm of Texas, was quoted last week as saying that the nation’s economic woes were all in its head — forcing McCain to rebuff his own adviser on a stop in Michigan last week.

Callers to Redico management are sent to Amanda Warren at the Trott Financial Center. Warren did not return calls.

Calls to Trott & Trott, which identifies itself as a collection agency on the recorded greeting, were also not returned.

McCain campaign officials have not yet responded to a request for comment on this story.

McCain Headquaters. Unbelievable! Someone in the McCain campaign either did not do their homework or they don’t get it or don’t care.

Or they liked the location a LOT? Conveniently located near two golf courses. Hmm.

You know cop-donut jokes? The world deserves Republican-golf course jokes. They must be out there already, somewhere.

The larger issue, of course, is how many gaffes can the McCain campaign endure per day and still run a campaign that isn't a joke?

This is outrageous! Senator McCain claims to want to reform the election process? This is not something that happened when he was 9 years old. It's happening right now. I am sorely disappointed in Senator McCain. This has absolutely nothingto do with his being a Viet Nam hero because Senator McCain is a war hero. However, that does not qualify him to be President of these United States and the Commander In Chief.

Yeah I agree, very disappointed in McCain. Not something coming from a former war hero.

Great post, was nice to know all these.. I would want to mention Redico is a good organization and they really know what they do. So if the property is in the hands of Redico it is in good hands..

Scandalous politicians. I tell you something fishy is going on there. Why are these people helping politicians with campaign offices anyway. Can they not afford the rent at their own places. Why are people being put out of their houses? I would like to know if politicians are making money off of these foreclosures, it sounds like they are indirectly!

    Brilliant, I hate republicans!

  • skshamie

I am neither Republican nor Democrat!

    Lets review now:
Bush was elected president in January 2001 and then the US was attacked about 9 months later.

Bush had a hurricane hit the US in the months to follow and it is his fault that FEMA was not prepared.

Bush was in office for 8 years during which time the national debt went from 5 trillion to 10 trillion

    Now Obama:

he has been in office 8 months and he stated that he would pull out of Iraq but did not say he would bring our troops home so he sent them to Afghanistan.

More Americans died in July than any month since the war started.
August beat out July's record for dead troops. All the media reported on was the national health plan being revamped to help the 15% of the american population without insurance and how the 85% with coverage will end up paying for it.

Cash for clunkers was a great program – RIGHT – well if you do all the math, the $2.88 billion dollars of tax money spent will not be made back through increased gas mileage for close to 10 years and that is if every car stays on the road for 10 years! What a joke on the American people that are without any control or recourse.

Amazingly, Obama's administration has increased the national debt from Bush's 10 trillion to about 19 Trillion in less than 8 months. What is everyone thinking?

    AN OPEN LETTER TO
    PRESIDENT OBAMA FROM LOU PRITCHETT
    CHECK IT AT SNOPES.COM

    Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America ' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.
