Michigan State University Spartans surprised top-seeded University of Louisville Cardinals today, winning the Midwest Regional Finals by a score of 64-52 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. MSU meets University of Connecticut in the Final Four at Ford Field in Detroit this coming weekend; details about the venue and tickets are available at this link. 

Another winning team must be looking forward eagerly to next weekend; their Upper Peninsula-made custom floor has been shipped from their small town in Amasa, Mich. to Detroit and been installed at Ford Field. One might wonder if made-in-Michigan Connor Sports Flooring will give an edge to the home team.

The Final Four floor, though, is only a small boost expected from the championship; if the experience of Michigan International Speedway and the 2006 Super Bowl XL are reasonable benchmarks, the Detro Metro area could expect between $300 and $400 million total economic activity, although a figure at the lower end might be reasonable given the economic environment.
