Several leading Michigan Republicans have made moves in the last week to prepare for higher offices in 2010.
Today, MIRS, a subscription news service covering the capitol, ran a breaking news note that current Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land has filed paperwork to form an exploratory committee to run for governor in 2010. She joins Attorney General Mike Cox as potential GOP rivals for the governorship. Both are term limited.
Land’s announcement comes one day before the Michigan GOP convention to held in Lansing this weekend. Land, according to MIRS, will be hosting an event Friday night.
In addition, Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop has announced his intention to seek the post of Attorney General. Bishop filed the necessary paperwork for an exploratory committee earlier this week.
