The Michigan Senate passed a compact that will allow for the opening of a casino by the Gun Lake Band of the Pottawatomi tribe in Wayland township. After a long legal battle, this should be the final hurdle cleared for the new casino. Under the compact, the state will receive 8-10% of slot revenue. One unusual measure in the compact is that the casino will be required to allow only those over 21 to gamble. Other Indian casinos in the state are 18 and up.
