The 6th Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the 30-year sentence imposed by a Michigan court on Robert Shafer, who pleaded guilty to multiple charges of producing child pornography using children from the day care center he owned in Van Buren County. Shafer appealed the sentence saying that it was too long under the federal sentencing guidelines and the appeals court has now agreed with him and overturned the sentence. The district court will now have to resentence Shafer to less time in prison. See the full ruling here.
