Auto Blog reports that several provisions that should help the auto industry appear to have made it into the final version of the stimulus package negotiated between the House and the Senate. They include $5 billion in tax cuts for the purchase of a new vehicle, which should help boost auto sales. There’s also an item in the bill for $300 million for the government to buy more fuel efficient vehicles and forgiveness of a $7 billion tax debt that GM took on when it accepted just over $9 billion in government loans.
