Michigan Congressman Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland, announced over the weekend that he will not seek re-election to Congress in 2010. Mike Lillis over at our sister site Washington Independent has a good blog post up about Hoekstra.
You can see the video interview with Hoekstra done by WZZM-TV Channel 13, the west Michigan ABC affiliate, here.
Hoekstra said several weeks ago he is considering a bid for the governor’s office, but he was coy in in his interview with WZZM-TV 13, saying:
“There are lots of things we need to consider before we make a decision. That decision doesn’t need to be made now and it doesn’t need to be made for a couple of months.”
Hoekstra is one of many well known Republicans whose names have been floated for a possible run at the governor’s office, including Attorney General Mike Cox, Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, Congresswoman Candice Miller, and others.
