Exxon pipeline leaks into Yellowstone River

A buried oil pipeline owned by Exxon ruptured late last week, sending up to 1,000 barrels of oil into the Yellowstone River in Montana. The cleanup and containment is being complicated by the river being above flood stage and flowing rapidly.

Feds remind pipeline operators to share emergency response plans

The federal agency responsible for oversight of the nation’s oil and gas pipelines has issued an advisory bulletin reminding pipeline operators that they need to make their emergency response plans available to local emergency response officials. Such information sharing is necessary, the agency said, because many pipelines go through public areas.
