The president of the Howell Education Association has been reprimanded for an in class exchange about LGBT people with one of his students, reports the Livingston Daily. Teacher Jay McDowell was suspended for one day without pay after school officials determined he had violated the First Amendment rights of the student and school policies.

Gay Oakland University student found dead of suicide on campus

The Oakland University community in southeast Michigan is mourning the loss of one of its own. Local officials report the body of 19-year-old Corey Jackson was found in a wooded area of the campus. Police and the medical examiner’s office tell the Oakland Press the young gay man hung himself.
