Who said irony was dead? Illegal immigrants cleaned DHS Secretary Chertoff’s home

By LoRayne Apo-Joynt | 12.11.08 | 2:18 am

A cleaning firm employing illegal immigrants cleaned the home of Michael Chertoff, Secretary of Homeland Security, according to a report in the Washington Post today.

Apparently the workers employed by a cleaning service were regularly screened by the Secret Service, yet cleared the screening process.

The cleaning service had been contracted by Chertoff’s wife, and was terminated earlier this year after it was disclosed to the Chertoffs that the service had hired illegal immigrants.

DHS Immigration and Customs Enforcement division fined the cleaning service in February for violations related to improper filing of employee citizenship information. It’s not clear from the Washington Post story article why this enforcement action did not gain public attention for nearly ten months.

The owner of the cleaning firm had not used E-Verify and not filled out required paper work., then complained when he was fined for breaking the law. He should have had to do jail time. We have 10 million Americans out of work and these criminal employers are hiring illegal aliens. This is corrupt and unacceptable behavior.
