At a Wednesday evening book signing event in Lansing, former Arkansas Gov. and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee talked about the Fair Tax, a bailout for the Big Three automakers and whether or not he will again seek the Republican nod for the presidency.
Huckabee, who is also a Fox News contributor, said the Big Three bailout currently under consideration in Washington was the wrong answer to the question about saving the automakers. His answer? Pass the Fair Tax, which he argues is designed for global competition and ultimately saves businesses money and time.
Fair Tax is a progressive national sales tax replacing all other forms of taxes. The tax would be a 23 percent tax across the board on all purchases, from autos to groceries to prescription medications.
As for another bid for the presidency, Huckabee said, “It’s a little early to start thinking about it.”
