Dingell loses key committee chairmanship

By Ed Brayton | 11.20.08 | 11:48 am

Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) has lost his longstanding chairmanship of the House Energy and Commerce committee to challenger, and fellow Democratic heavyweight, Henry Waxman (D-Calif.).

Dingell has been the chair of the Energy and Commerce committee, which considers legislation with a direct impact on the auto industry, for 28 years. He has been criticized during that time of doing the bidding of the Big Three automakers from his home town of Detroit.
