Bonior rejects possible cabinet appointment

Former U.S. Rep. David Bonior of Michigan says he has no interest in being the Secretary of Labor in the Obama administration:

Former U.S. Rep. David Bonior has told President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team he’s not interested in becoming Labor secretary.

He says he’s willing to be helpful to the administration, but says, in his words, that he doesn’t “see myself on a plane and at functions all the time.”

Bonior spent 26 years in the U.S. House before making an unsuccessful run for Michigan governor in 2002. He is currently teaching labor law and serving on Obama’s economic transition team.
