Meijer investigation finds likely election law violations

Meijer, the Grand Rapids-based grocery chain, announced today that an internal investigation has determined that the company “likely violated campaign-finance and -reporting laws.”

Today’s announcement was based on findings by John Pirich, a campaign-finance expert hired by Meijer to investigate claims that it paid a public relations firm to organize a February recall campaign in Acme — a small community near Traverse City where plans for a new Meijer store faced opposition.
