In an earlier article about a lawsuit filed against ACORN in Ohio, we reported that the plaintiff’s attorney in that suit pointed to allegations by the GOP in New Mexico that 28 people had voted fraudulently in the primaries in that state. More information has now come to light on those allegations.
The New Mexico Republican Party had called a press conference to allege that 28 people had voted illegally during the primaries in June, and they released specific identities of 10 of those people. ACORN has now announced that they’ve contacted those 10 people and have confirmed that their votes were legitimate:
The voters that the Republicans named in their press conference on Thursday were quickly reached by ACORN Thursday night. They include three 18 and 19-year-olds and a new citizen, all first-time voters. Their legitimacy was confirmed by the Bernalillo County Clerk. All confirmed that they voted in the June primary and expressed outrage that the Republican Party is targeting them … ACORN confirmed with the Bernalillo County Clerk that the voters in question were all legitimate.
Our sister site, the New Mexico Independent, published a related article about those voters. They contacted the voters accused of being illegitimate and heard complaints from them about a private investigator who may have been hired by the New Mexico GOP who visited them. ACORN and Project Vote are demanding an investigation by the state, calling such visits an attempt to intimidate voters.
