Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich said he requested the recount after receiving multiple reports of apparent election irregularities.

Pollsters who had predicted an easy victory for Barack Obama in New Hampshire were surprised when Hillary Clinton won by a slim margin.

According to Secretary of State William M. Gardner, the last time New Hampshire did a statewide recount of the results of the presidential primary was in 1980.
