Palin wants to stay in Michigan, Anuzis pleads for money to MI-GOP

By Todd A. Heywood | 10.05.08 | 10:59 pm

Mainstream media outlets reported that vice presidential candidate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is unhappy with her Republican running mate, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, saying she doesn’t want to give up on Michigan.

According to a fundraising appeal from Michigan Republican Party Chair Saul Anuzis, Palin said: “I wanna get back to Michigan and I want to try!” Anuzis declares he “never agreed with her (Palin) more!”

He then asked the recipients of his email to send their “most generous contribution” possible to the Michigan Republican Party.

“We’re fighters, just like Governor Palin. We know this election isn’t over,” Anuzis wrote. “We won’t give up on our candidates. We won’t give up on Michigan. Stand with me. Stand with Governor Palin.”

Anuzis also discloses that an email sent Friday raised $16,000 for the MIGOP through email alone.

The email then goes on to say:

But friends, if we’re to remain competitive, if we’re to put the programs in place that Joe Knollenberg, Tim Walberg, Cliff Taylor and our other candidates need for victory, if we’re to show the nation that you can’t count Michigan out, your Michigan Republican Party needs to fill a significant hole.

I need to raise $100,000 over the next week from our best grassroots activists like you. That’s a huge number—I know. But I also know what we need for victory, and I also know the dedication and generosity of the greatest Republican grassroots in the nation. We’re off to a good start.

Anuzis says he cannot “understate the absolute critical nature of my request.”
