MOUNT PLEASANT — The Rally for Justice demonstration at Central Michigan University has begun, without many of the buses carrying members of the National Council for Community Empowerment and Council of Baptist Pastors from across the state. CMU students are marching down main street towards Isabella County building at the time of this report. Weather conditions are believed to have delayed buses from Detroit, Grand Rapids and Benton Harbor. The campus appears to have received 3 inches of snow overnight. Police from multiple agencies are on duty and are monitoring the event. The buses are still expected to arrive soon at CMU.
The protest was put together to pressure Isabella county prosecutor Larry Burdick into prosecuting a male CMU student who admitted to hanging four nooses in a campus classroom last month.
