State unemployment rate soars

By Ed Brayton | 08.18.11 | 7:45 am

In unsurprising news given the steady drumbeat of bad economic reports lately, the state’s unemployment rate took a big jump in July, up .4 percent to 10.9 percent. Total employment dropped by 30,000 jobs while the number of residents unemployed increased by 15,000.

The national unemployment rate stands at 9.1 percent but the trends are all in the wrong direction. And those figures only count those who are still receiving unemployment benefits, not those who have exhausted their benefits or given up finding a job.

You can see the full state employment report here.

Snyder must be getting ready to run to become a GOP Congressman, because he hasn’t put forth one jobs legislation, either, other than training and creating a bunch of EF’eMs! What happened to all of the “jobs creation” experience that Snyder was suppose to bring to Lansing that he so extensively ran on?  I suppose that this, somehow, will be Obama’s fault, too. Who votes for these Republicants and expects them to support anything other than more and more tax breaks and corperate handouts for the rich and to hell with the rest of us?

The last person out of Michigan won’t have to shut the lights off, the republicans will do that for him/her. Then they”ll hang a closed sign, strip out all regulations and prepare to rape our natural resources with diesel fracking and tar pipelines…pitifull!

1.6 billion in tax cuts for companies paid for by taxing pensions and the poor! That is redistribution at its finest and tell us Rick where are those jobs you righties promise when corporations pay less taxes!
