Congressman Tim Walberg, the Republican representative of the 7th Congressional District, is flirting once again with Birtherism.
The freshman rep. refused to tell a meeting of the erstwhile 9/12 group in Lenawee county that the debate was settled, reports the Adrian Daily Telegram.
Responding to two questioners who brought up the issue of Obama’s birth place, Walberg did not tell the questioners that the issue had been settled by Obama when he released his birth certificate in April.
“Regardless of whether the license that he showed is true or fake, I’ve not seen it other than what was portrayed in the news. The House is controlled by the majority party being the Republicans, the Senate by the Democrats, the attorney general by the Democrats. That’s the answer. One and a half years. One and a half years. That’s when we do the do-over,” Walberg said.
He also said, “though I would like to have that question finally answered as much as anybody else, yet it takes my eye off the ball of all that I have to do.” Walberg said he had made a “priority decision” to concentrate on the budget and policy to “make a long-term difference for this country in a positive way.”
The White House has released the president’s birth certificate.
