The conservative group Americans for Prosperity is making headlines after it posted fake eviction notices on properties in the Delray neighborhood of Detroit.
The group is protesting the Detroit River International Crossing. The fake eviction notices however have drawn fire.
“It’s shameful that anyone would use residents as pawns in a political fight,” said Scott Brines of the Southwest Detroit Community Benefits Coalition. “The misinformation being spread in these fliers continues to hurt the people of Delray. We need a decision on this project immediately so we can all move forward.”

In his January State of the State speech, Republican Gov. Rick Snyder shocked lawmakers and political watchers when he announced his support for building a second bridge to Canada. The bridge would be funded by a loan from Canada. Snyder has since said he wants the legislature to pass the legislation authorizing the bridge by the end of June, but lawmakers say that may not happen.
Complicating the case, Matthew Maroun, who owns the Ambassador Bridge, opposes the DRIC. Last year the legislature killed legislation which would have authorized the building of a second bridge, in large part because of Maroun’s lobbying. He has been running commercials on television opposing the second bridge.
