This is part of a shift in strategy, towards new forms [...]

Snyder rejects Arizona-style immigration law

By Ed Brayton | 05.20.11 | 7:26 am

State Rep. Dave Agema may want an Arizona-still immigration law in Michigan but his fellow Republican Gov. Rick Snyder says such a law would be both unnecessary and divisive.

AP reports:

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder told an audience of Hispanic business leaders that the state doesn’t need an immigration enforcement law like the one causing controversy in Arizona.

Snyder told members of the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Thursday in Detroit that such a law would “encourage a divisive atmosphere.”

A report from the Michigan League for Human Services concluded that such a law would damage Michigan’s economy, as it has in Arizona.

One Michigan, a pro-immigration group, praised Snyder’s position in an email to the Michigan Messenger:

We are glad that Governor Snyder is not supportive of Arizona type legislation. Immigrants contribute greatly to Michigan economy. Immigrant communities have been a key factor in the revitalization of Detroit. If Governor Snyder sees the true value in immigrant communities, he would make an investment in immigrants. By providing undocumented students in-state tuition, he is giving immigrant youth an opportunity to continue their studies in Michigan and further invest in Michigan. By having the state withdraw from anti-immigrant policies like secure communities, we can insure immigrants remain in Michigan.

Someone may want to remind Rick Snyder of his sworn oath of office and our laws.  It would also be a good idea to describe what follows when an elected official is charged with dereliction of duty.

I’ve observed that those elected officials who aid and abet illegal aliens and/or enjoin with corrupt entities that profit from the presence of them are, 99.9% of the time, the same person who could never win an election without the “help” of unions, LaRaza, Chambers of Commerce, and illegal aliens.

Snyder, an elected official is thwarting the law of the land.  He ignores the immigration issue in favor of the illegals who take jobs and social benefits from the Americans.  I didn’t vote for him, happy I didn’t.  Are you happy now that you voted in another O’bama.  They get free schooling, free medical, and never have to pay anything in taxes.  No wonder the states are going broke.

The only reason Arizona is having economic problems is because our Federal government is suiing Arizona because of their immigration laws which mirror the Federal laws.  If this government would enforce the laws already on the books and it had not been a poltical statement during an election year it would never have happened. Illegals have an unfavorable reputation in this country.  They refuse to speak English, they drain our country’s resources by not paying taxes, they get FREE education, FREE medical, FREE social services, food stamps, etc.  American people are fed up with all the  political posturing for illegals and not for the American workers who are losing their jobs, their homes and self respect.  Get with the program Snyder you sound like a democratic liberal

While there is nothing wrong with Immigration, it is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION that is the problem.  We should allow visitors here with skills and that can fill the needs of America, but we also should know who they are and when they are going home.  Try walking across the border to China, Iran, Israel or even Mexico and see how your treated!
