Study: 16 million vehicle sales by 2013

By Ed Brayton | 05.18.11 | 8:04 am

A new study by one of the leading auto industry analysis firms concludes that the American domestic automobile market will rebound to a full 16 million vehicles sold by the year 2013, a number that would be near the highest rates of the last decade.

The Detroit Free Press reports:

New vehicle sales in the U.S. will rebound to 16 million by 2013 as consumers stop delaying purchases and lenders resume doing business with sub-prime borrowers, according to the consulting firm’s A.T. Kearney’s annual study.

Dan Cheng, leader of the consultant’s automotive practice, said new vehicle sales this year will reach 13.2 million, about on track with other estimates throughout the industry.

Sales this year have been on pace for that 13.2 million figure through the first four months.
