The California organizer for the National Socialist Movement white nationalist organization has been shot to death.
The Press Enterprise from California says 32-year-old Jeff Hall was found shot in his home in Riverside home. Emergency medical responders were unable to revive Hall from the gun shot wound, and he was declared dead on the scene.
One of Hall’s five children has reportedly been detained by authorities in the shooting incident. Police do not have a motive for why the minor allegedly shot his father, and declined to release the child’s age.
Neighbors told the Press Enterprise they were sighing a breath of relief at the news Hall was dead.
“Honestly, I feel like it’s over,” said Juan Trejo, who lives across the street from Hall’s home. “It was scary here. Hopefully we’ll never see any of them again.”
Trejo described a Halloween party at the home last year, when Hall flew a swastika flag from the home and guests wore KKK hoods. Trejo said Hall lived there with his wife and several children, one of whom called his son a “beaner” when the boy skateboarded near the Hall home.
Trejo said in the two years they lived there, he had never spoken to Hall, his wife, or several children, whom he described as all younger than about 12.
“I never tried to even say hello because they are racist,” he said.
Hall ran unsuccessfully for the obscure Division 2 of the Western Riverside Municipal Water District board in November. He lost, but NSM Leader Jeff Schoep said Hall’s nearly 30 percent showed he was “well liked in his community.” Hall made no secret of his NSM affiliations during the race.
Schoep, who lives in Detroit, made no comment about the cause of Hall’s death, but called Hall “a loving Father of five children, a family man, and a dedicated American Patriot,” in an obituary announcement on the group’s website.
