Group puts out pro-Snyder budget video

By Ed Brayton | 03.15.11 | 7:47 am

A group led by one of Gov. Rick Snyder’s top campaign advisers, John Yob, has put out a Youtube video and may soon start running TV commercials in support of the governor’s proposal to significantly shift the tax burden from businesses to working families, the poor and senior citizens.

The Detroit News reports:

The video, posted on the website of the pro-budget group Value for Michigan, features children talking directly into the camera to unseen parents and grandparents.

“You taught me to be responsible,” one child says. “To save some of my allowance.

“But what about Michigan? Please be responsible with our future.”

“Don’t pass the buck,” the children admonish their elders. “Don’t leave it all on us.”

The connection between this rhetoric and Snyder’s budget proposal is left unspoken — probably because there is none. Usually the rhetoric of not passing things on to our children refers to leaving them debt, but in Michigan the constitution has to be balanced every year so there is no debt to pass on.

Critics argue that Snyder’s budget proposal would actually cause great harm to Michigan’s children by doing away with the child income tax exemption and the Earned Income Tax Credit — which by itself would push 14,000 more children into poverty, according to a new study — and slashing state funding for K-12 education.

Here’s the video:

Yob had to reply to me on his youtube to explain why there were no minorities in the commercial. He didn’t want to answer any other arguments. Yob can eat a big fat d***.

This video sucks. Governor Rick? That monicker harkens images of Mr. Rodger’s Neighborhood. What happened to the tough nerd? I love the gov, but Yob isn’t up to the job. Where’s Fred Davis when you need him?

I have no idea what that even means. How do I simultaneously publish and bury a story?
