The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Michigan and the Advancement Project have filed suit on behalf of the United States Student Association Foundation against Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land and Director of Elections Christopher Thomas over what the ACLU calls illegal vote purging actions by the state.

The suit alleges that two voter removal programs being undertaken by the state may prevent thousands of Michigan citizens from voting in the November election and that both programs are illegal under the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. The Michigan Messenger will have more details on the allegations as they emerge.
