By Ed Brayton | 01.10.11 | 9:02 am

The North American International Auto Show in Detroit has prompted some good news as Ford is set to announce that it will add thousands of new jobs over the next couple years as the auto industry continues to improve dramatically.

The Detroit News reports:

Ford Motor Co., providing fresh evidence of the U.S. auto industry’s recovery, will announce today it is adding more than 7,000 jobs in the United States over the next two years.

That includes 4,000 blue-collar jobs and 750 salaried positions in 2011, plus another 2,500 factory jobs in 2012.

No specific sites will be announced but at least some of those jobs will almost certainly be here in Michigan.
