Islamic group sues Debbie Schlussel over website

The Michigan Council on American-Islamic Relations is suing right-wing political commentator and lawyer Debbie Schlussel for trademark infringement.

In a federal lawsuit filed this week the Muslim civil rights group claims that Schlussel hijacked the organizations name when she registered the website www.cairmichigan.com.

The Detroit Free Press reports:

“There are people in our community who contacted our office thinking she actually was named executive director of CAIR Michigan,” the group’s executive director, Dawud Walid, said today. He said he fears supporters of his group are making charitable contributions to Schlussel, believing she runs the real CAIR organization.

Schlussel countered that CAIR abandoned its name in Michigan by failing to file annual reports to the state of Michigan beginning in 2004. She said she filed articles of incorporation last year, at the behest of a client who she wouldn’t identify.

Schlussel recently blogged that she wanted to “drive the Muslims crazy” by registering a CAIR-Michigan nonprofit group with the state and naming herself executive director, the Chicago Tribune reports.

    The site clearly has a pseudo-Star of David in the name and it states, in English (which we know is not the primary language of choice for the Hamas supporting CAIR), CAIR Michigan – Council on American-Israeli Relations, Michigan.

    CAIR calls the four links, “Anti-Islamic Extremist”. Well let’s see:

If blogging on actual Islamic terrorism is being an extremist anti-Islamic site, then how people in government still think CAIR simply represents American Muslims and doesn’t have an agenda beyond that is beyond belief and common sense.

    http://www.imra.org.il/ The Independent Media Review Analysis is a news aggregate, “A current digest of media, polls and significant interviews and events.” Extremist indeed.

    CAIR’s use of the victim card and the ever ready race baiting/bigot hue and cry of anyone and everything that stand’s in its way is repeated here. That anyone still believes CAIR’s lies is astounding.

    All I can say is that it is about time Islam checked its own dog for fleas and stop blaming the messengers. Whenever a religion or ideology calls for five year old children to aspire to be martyrs it needs to be excised from the family of humanity just as the Nazis were. Someday all hypocritic Imams will be consumed in the fire of their own creation. For evidence this has already begun look to the bloody schism between Sunni and Shia.
