Snyder inauguration to be broadcast live on Michigan Government TV

By Todd A. Heywood | 12.28.10 | 9:36 am

Do you want to watch Gov.-elect Rick Snyder become Gov. Rick Snyder on New Year’s Day? Don’t want to make the trip to Lansing or stand in what is likely to be arctic weather? You’re in luck. The inauguration of Snyder, his Lt. Gov. choice Brian Calley and other statewide candidates Attorney General-elect Bill Schuette and Secretary of State-elect Ruth Johnson will be broadcast live on Michigan Government Television, reports the Lansing State Journal.

The production can be caught on cable or streamed live on the internet.

Snyder has announced he will take the oath of office on the steps of the capitol regardless of weather. Outgoing Gov. Jennifer Granholm has taken her oaths of office inside and out of the cold in the past. Former Gov. John Engler took all three of his oaths on the steps of the Capitol.

Snyder is expected to lay out some of his priorities as governor during his speech following the administration of the oath. Among the plans, Snyder has been clear he will move up the state of the state speech as well as introduce a two year budget before the March deadline. He wants the Republican dominated House and Senate to pass the budget by July 1.
