Despite multiple investigations finding no wrongdoing in the killing of Detroit Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah during an FBI raid on a Dearborn warehouse last October, the Council on American-Islamic Relations of Michigan is filing a lawsuit against the federal government demanding access to unreleased documents and media from the raid. The Detroit News reports:
The lawsuits, expected by noon, are being filed because the FBI and state Attorney General have failed to turn over audio and video surveillance footage showing the death of Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah, who was killed Oct. 28 at a Dearborn warehouse, said Dawud Walid, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations of Michigan (CAIR)…
“We still need to review the information based upon the unanswered questions that we have regarding this case, as well as discrepancies that we have seen in the reports,” Walid said.
Both Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox and the U.S. Department of Justice have concluded investigations into the matter and found no violations of law or protocol by the FBI. They say Abdullah fired on agents first and they returned fire, hitting him 20 times in a hail of gunfire.
