Despite evidence of the impact of mercury on children and public health, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette last month joined with 24 other state attorneys general in filing a lawsuit to scuttle new EPA regulations that would reduce mercury emissions from power plants.

Peters, Schauer lead in new poll

A new Epic/MRA poll shows the Democrats pulling ahead of their Republican rivals in two very important Michigan congressional districts.

In the 7th District, incumbent Democrat Mark Schauer has pulled out to a six point lead over Republican Tim Walberg and now leads 45-39 percent. This despite outside interest groups spending huge amounts of money to attack Schauer on behalf of Walberg.

And in the 9th District, incumbent Democrat Gary Peters now holds a five point lead over his challenger, Republican Andrew (Rocky) Raczkowski, 48-43 percent.

Republican Rick Snyder has a huge lead in both districts over Democrat Virg Bernero in the race for the governor’s mansion, 20 percent and 23 percent respectively.
