Michiganders see red about voters’ rights threat

Wow, we touched a nerve with Eartha Melzer’s article, “Lose your house, lose your vote.” We’ve had many angry visitors leaving comments about the possible threat to voters who’ve been through foreclosure here in Michigan.

But the anger isn’t just in comments here at Michigan Messenger; we note that numerous blogs and media outlets have picked up the story, only to draw more ire from readers about the topic. Progress Michigan, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting progressive ideas and holding public officials accountable, launched a petition drive against any effort to obstruct voters with foreclosed properties. And the Michigan chapter of ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) has organized a demonstration in the greater Detroit area for tomorrow.

Stay tuned. As angry as readers have been, this story is far from over.

I was outraged when I ran across this article. It is yet another cageing process used by the RNC. I have reached out to my contacts in Detroit and they will be involved in getting to the bottom of this madness. I know that the republican party has worked diligently to void the voices of the american people. When Bushes vote american initative was created it was to squelch the vote of the democratic party. If WE THE PEOPLE do not raise our voices to this incidious assignation of the voteing process then if Mccain gets in office then we deserve what we get. If they are doing this in Michigan where else are they doing it. I feel there needs to be a national dialogue on this issue ASAP

You should be more outraged that this article isn't even true!

Let me tell you the other side of this that you will not hear in the mainstream liberal media. The reason they are verifying voter registration is because the Obama campaign along with ACORN (Association of Community Organizations Reform Now) for which Obama previously worked as a community organizer are being investigated & charged with voter fraud. Milwaukee's top election officials are seeking criminal charges against ACORN for offering gifts to sign up voters, falsify driver's licenses numbers, Social Security numbers, and other information on voter registration cards. ACORN has child rapists, drug offenders, and forgery convicts on their payroll who are being PAID to vote for Obama by registering the felons (who are ineligible to vote) using DEAD PEOPLES NAMES AND VACANT FORECLOSED HOMES for legal addresses. The Obama campaign has admitted they failed to report $800,000 in campaign payments TO ACORN disguised as payments to a front group called "Citizens Services Inc." for "advanced work". Now with a wave of his magic wand Obama amended his Federal Election Commission forms to change the "advanced work" to "get-out-the-vote" work.

Who is guilty of voter fraud and trying to "fix" this election in their favor? And say again why the GOP should not be allowed to verify that EVERY voter is legally registered to vote, are able to provide identification, and are not felons and non-US citizens illegally registered using a deceased person's identity & vacant foreclosed homes as their address???

Wake up people....you are being fooled and used by Obama & the Democratic Party and they fuel you by making you believe it is about "racial discrimination"!!!! Please take a little time to learn the facts & find the truth. You are about to put yourself, your children, your friends, neighbors, & the entire United States in grave danger if you don't!

We stand behind Eartha Melzer's article, in which she says that a GOP county party chair said, “We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren’t voting from those addresses."
