Schwarz endorses Schauer over Walberg

By Ed Brayton | 10.08.10 | 7:55 am

Former U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz, a Republican, has endorsed Democratic incumbent Rep. Mark Schauer over Republican Tim Walberg in the 7th District of Michigan. In a press release from the Schauer campaign, Schwarz said:

“I know Mark and Tim well, and while I may not agree with Mark on all the issues, he’s clearly the best candidate to get things done, and clearly the candidate who will be the most helpful to our communities. Integrity matters. Mark has represented us well and fought hard for our district. Mark takes the correct positions on Social Security and on economic deveopment. For me, results and reasonable positions on difficult issues trump partisanship, and that’s why I’m proud to support Mark Schauer.”

Schwarz also endorsed Schauer in 2008 when he defeated Walberg, then the incumbent, for the same seat. Schwarz held that seat in 2005-2006. Walberg then won the seat in 2006 and was defeated by Schauer in 2008. Now Walberg is trying to win his seat back.
