More bad polling news for Bernero

By Ed Brayton | 09.10.10 | 10:08 am

The torrent of bad polling data continues for Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero in his race against Republican candidate Rick Snyder for the governor’s seat. A new poll shows Snyder holding on to a more than 20 point lead — and not enough undecided voters to make up the difference. The Detroit News reports:

Snyder is ahead of the Lansing mayor 56.2 percent to 35.9 percent among likely November general election voters, according to a Detroit News/Local 4 WDIV poll released Thursday.

The Ann Arbor businessman’s margin is roughly the same as he had in a Detroit News/Local 4 WDIV poll taken just days after the primary. Voters seem to be making up their minds early as the number of undecideds has fallen from 17.8 percent in August to 7.5 percent today.

That means Bernero needs to convert people who have already made up their mind for Snyder in order to have a chance in November, something that is far more difficult to do than swaying the minds of undecided voters.

I think voters recognize how important it is to get the state budget straightened out. Snyder, thankfully, supports the Michigan Turnaround Plan, http://www.michiganturnaroundplan.com. We need to rightsize state government, consolidate the provision of services into a more efficient scheme, and channel the savings into closing the deficit and investing in programs that will yield job growth, such as education and transportation.

Snyder has run a major organization with limited resources in a verycompetitive envirenment. He can match revenues with expeses. If unions dont buy in to a 30% cut in staffs/pay/benefits–then Snyder can “outsource” the jobs to India. If that dont work try bankruptcy and allocate the limited resources to the obligation. This would mean a cut to retirees as well to bring them all in line with the private sector. He owes nothing to the big union crybabies–NO NEW TAXES–GO SNYDER/CALLLEY!!!!!!
