Could Michigan get more than expected under state aid bill?

By Ed Brayton | 08.09.10 | 10:56 am

The Center for Budget and Policy Priorities has released estimates of what each state would get if the House passes the Medicaid and school aid bill sent by the Senate tomorrow — and the numbers are higher than previous estimates made by Gov. Jennifer Granholm and by the Detroit News.

The previous estimates were for $300 million in Medicaid funding and $310 million in aid to schools to prevent teacher layoffs. But the CBPP puts the Medicaid figure at $380 million and the school aid at $318. All of these are estimates based on funding formulas, of course, but the higher the number the better for Michigan’s budget for FY 2011.
