After four years of operation in Michigan, the board of the American Independent News Network, has decided to shift publication of its news into a single site, The American Independent at Americanindependent.com. This is part of a shift in strategy, towards new forms [...]

Get your Palin Palooza here!

Or at least get a link to the investigative work of my counterpart, Laura McGann, from Michigan Messenger’s sister site, The Washington Independent.

McGann’s been slaving away for the last week in the recesses of Alaska, doing the vetting that the McCain campaign team clearly did not do on vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin. You know it’s pretty bad when a local newspaper tells one of your team members that she’s the first person to ask for archived papers not available on the Internet.

Which makes me wonder what kind of vetting the McCain team might do on other issues if elected to office … say, informants like the infamous Curveball? Will they get us into another war because they couldn’t be bothered with vetting sources and cross-checking stories? Will they make spur-of-the-moment decisions — toss the dice, Hail-Mary-pass kind of decisions — rather than taking the time to do the homework required to suss out the truth before making executive decisions?

McGann proved it doesn’t take much executive experience; it simply took showing up and doing the work required to find the truth.

I don’t know how much longer McGann will be in Alaska on her investigative detail, but stay tuned. I’ll bet she has a few stories to tell when she gets back.
