By Todd A. Heywood | 07.06.10 | 10:37 am

A lot of politicians are aching for your support in August, but if you don’t register by the end of business Tuesday you can’t vote.

The Secretary of State, Terri Lynn Land, reminds voters that July 6 is the last day to register vote for the Aug. 3 primary. That primary will decide which candidates will represent their party in the battle for the governor’s office in the November election.

On the Democratic side, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and House Speaker Andy Dillon will square off for the nomination. Meanwhile on the Republican ticket, Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder, Attorney General Mike Cox, State Sen. Tom George, Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard and Holland Congressman Pete Hoekstra are vying for their party’s nomination.

A host of state House and Senate seats are also up for grabs with numerous candidates from both parties vying for the party nomination.
