After a floor fight Saturday afternoon, delegates at the Michigan Democratic Party convention in Lansing chose their candidate for the state supreme court race. Chief justice Cliff Taylor, a Republican, is up for reelection and will now face Diane Marie Hathaway.

The party selected Judge Diane Marie Hathaway over Judge Deborah Thomas. Hathaway appeared to have the approval of the MDP leadership, while Thomas drew her support from the party’s grassroots.

Following the announcement that Hathaway had won the MDP’s nomination for the state supreme court race, the delegates were treated to an MDP-produced video advertisement featuring Hathaway.
