What should have happened was that Each TAX PAYING American should have received $30,000 in a government check either written out to their Mortgage Lender or to the big 3 dealer of their choice. This would have saved the homeowner and sent money to the banks that needed it. or would have given people a reliable car and money to the big 3....instead we gave money to bail out the banks and the big 2 of 3 and the American public has seen no return on the investment. The money to the American public would have brought some people within the amount of owing what their house is worth, for some giving them a huge buffer and for some paying off their mortgage in which they could spend more money into the economy...It would have been a WIN WIN situation instead the only winners are those who received big bank bonuses....

I think the emphasis of the story is misplaced. We can do more for our state if we focus our energies on creating jobs. Underinvestment in education (K-12, higher education and community colleges) has sent a message to employers that Michigan is not interested in developing its 21st-century workforce. The inadequate state of roads and public transit has sent a message that we are not interested in facilitating commerce. Finally, our tax code has sent a message that we are not interested in making our economic climate hospitable to job growth. We must do better. That's why I support the Michigan Turnaround Plan. http://www.michiganturnaroundplan.com.
