State Sen. Tom George (R-Kalamazoo) may be considered a long shot candidate for his party’s nomination for governor, but at least one Kalamazoo family is thankful that he was around Monday night.
George was on hand as Kalamazoo Central High School students listened to President Barack Obama give the graduation speech to the class of 2010. At some point during the proceedings, held on the campus of Western Michigan University, an unidentified man collapsed.
George and emergency medical crews dashed to his side. George, who is also a medical doctor, assisted in reviving the man, who was rushed to a local hospital. His condition is unknown, reports Fox 17.
Obama was in Kalamazoo to deliver the commencement address for the senior class of 2010. His presence there was the result of thousands of votes on the internet, and the community’s commitment to education, he told the students.
