An investigation into the controversial shooting of Detroit area Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah by the Dearborn Police Department has been completed and forwarded to Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox. Abdullah was shot 20 times by federal agents during a raid on a Dearborn warehouse on October 28, 2009. The Detroit Free Press reports:
Dearborn officials say the investigation was thorough:
“The investigators assigned to this incident conducted an exhaustive investigation, they reviewed statements from and interviewed all available witnesses (totaling over 80 individuals), collected and analyzed several items of evidence, and reviewed all related statements, reports and documents, which included the autopsy report, necropsy report, and the ballistics report,” Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a news release today.
This would be the first of several ongoing investigations to conclude on the matter. The FBI has maintained that its agents followed protocol to the letter, but Muslim community leaders have questioned several things about the raid. It is not known what conclusions were reached in this report.
