Feiger considering run for Gov’s office, again

By Todd A. Heywood | 04.26.10 | 1:52 pm

Geoffery Feiger, an outspoken attorney from the Detroit area, is considering a second bid for the governor’s mansion in Lansing.

Feiger won the nomination in 1998, and was defeated by incumbent John Engler. But that history is not slowing the man best known as Jack Kervorkian’s defense attorney down.

“The Democrats in this state would be inclined to support me,” he said this morning on WJR AM-760, citing a recent poll indicating his anticipated front-runner status. “I think that would last and I would win the primary.”

In the interview, he went on to note that he thinks Republicans will win this year, notes that the state has become “like Mississippi,” and rails against the gutting of Detroit.

If Feiger gets into the race, he will face off with Lansing Mayor Virgil Bernero, Andy Dillon a Redford Township Democrat and Speaker of the Michigan House; and Alma Wheeler Smith, a state representative from Salem Township.
