BREAKING: Detroit’s mayor Kwame Kilpatrick resigning

By LoRayne Apo-Joynt | 09.04.08 | 8:14 am

Reports also indicate that he will serve four months in jail and pay fines or restitution of one million dollars. With this announcement Kilpatrick avoids hearings begun yesterday at Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s request that might have led to his ouster from office as well as the release of more embarrassing details about his term in office.

We’ll provide more details shortly as they become available.

Agreed, Don Williamson has some major issues that need to be addressed. Can only hope that the voters there are a little more savvy this go round. Still cannot understand why we let convicted felons hold elected office, no matter what Don says about his tax evasion being a “youthful indiscretion”.

On the other hand, I cannot for the life of me picture Don Williamson involved in a sex scandal with a subordinate staffer or aide, can you? Ugh.
